This Girl Underwent Double Jaw Surgery — Before-and-After Photos Left Everyone Speechless

Virginia Elder’s Year-Long Jaw Surgery Journey: A Story of Strength, Faith, and Healing. What began as a routine orthodontic process evolved into a year-long transformation that Virginia Elder bravely documented, drawing millions of views across social media. Before the surgery, Virginia had already shared moments of faith, time with loved ones, and adventures with her dog, Bleau — small glimpses of a life soon to be marked by a major physical and emotional shift.

A Texas Tech alumna, Elder had previously overcome spinal challenges, including two major surgeries for scoliosis and degenerative disc disease. Though that journey strengthened her, she still lived with insecurities about her underbite.

In March 2023, she began orthodontic prep for double jaw surgery and soon started documenting every step — not just the good days, but the hardest ones too. Leading up to surgery, she posted profile photos showing her natural jawline, and once the procedure was done, she shared raw, daily updates on TikTok — swelling, fatigue, tears, and small wins.

Her recovery included both milestones and setbacks, including a surgical plate removal due to infection. Still, she stayed consistent, showing what true healing looks like: slow, painful, and eventually empowering.

At 3.5 weeks, swelling reduced. By six weeks, her facial structure had become more defined, even as she dealt with complications. Months later, she revealed her new smile — braces off, swelling gone, and a confidence that radiated in every photo.

On August 24, 2024 — exactly one year post-surgery — Elder reflected on her transformation. “It is so freeing to eat properly and not be in constant pain. Some days, I still don’t recognize myself, but I’m so grateful,” she shared.

Her honesty, faith, and consistency turned her journey into more than just a physical transformation — it became a powerful source of support and inspiration for others walking similar paths.
