‘Wheel of Fortune’ Sparks Controversy After Denying Contestant’s ‘Correct’ Answer To Puzzle

Ryan Seacrest Faces Backlash After Wheel of Fortune Controversy

Ryan Seacrest’s transition into Wheel of Fortune host has been smooth overall, but his December 5 episode sparked heated debate among fans. The controversy centered on contestant Jenn Walker, who lost out on a $2,000 prize despite correctly solving a puzzle.

During the triple toss-up round in the “Food and Drink” category, two contestants failed to provide a correct response, leaving Jenn as the only player eligible. Seacrest encouraged her, saying, “It’s down to you, Jenn, so take your time.” She confidently answered “Well-Balanced Meal.” However, instead of celebrating, Seacrest abruptly cut her off, declaring, “Buzzer!” The issue? Jenn had not pressed her buzzer before responding.

Seacrest looked visibly confused and consulted producers, who ruled Jenn’s answer invalid. Despite solving the puzzle correctly, she was denied the $2,000 prize. Fans quickly expressed outrage online, questioning why a buzz-in was necessary when Jenn was the only contestant left.

Although the ruling didn’t alter the final outcome—Clint won with $26,150 while Jenn finished with $20,490—the incident fueled criticism of Seacrest’s hosting. Viewers argue his strict enforcement overshadowed fairness, reviving concerns about earlier missteps.

Should Jenn have received the prize, or was Seacrest right to stick to the rules?
