Hayley Williams Confirms Her Lyric About A ‘Racist Country Singer’ Was Aimed At Morgan Wallen

Hayley Williams has officially confirmed that the now-viral lyric about a ‘racist country singer’ from her latest album was inspired by none other than Morgan Wallen.Earlier this year, Williams released her solo project titled Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party, which immediately drew attention for its unapologetic and bold lyrics. One line in particular, “I’ll be the biggest star at this racist country singer’s bar,” sparked debate across social media as listeners tried to guess who she was calling out.Fans have spent months speculating about the identity of the person behind the lyric, and Williams has now openly admitted who she was referring to, putting an end to the rumors once and for all.

Speaking during an episode of The New York Times Popcast, the 36-year-old singer revealed: “It could be a couple, but I’m always talking about Morgan Wallen.”“I don’t give a s***,” she added bluntly, leaving no doubt about her feelings on the matter.

Williams didn’t stop there, either. She even threw down a challenge to Wallen, saying she’d be ready for a public showdown if he wanted one, and added: “Find me at Whole Foods b***h, I don’t care.”

Both artists actually share the same home state — Tennessee — though they couldn’t be further apart when it comes to their musical approach and public image. Wallen, who owns a popular bar in Nashville, has become one of country music’s most polarizing figures in recent years.Unsurprisingly, Williams has previously made it clear that she’s not a fan of either Wallen’s establishment or his behavior, suggesting her lyric came from genuine frustration rather than a passing comment.
Wallen’s reputation has taken multiple hits over the past few years following a string of controversies. One of the biggest came when he was caught on camera using a racial slur while out with friends, in footage that quickly went viral after being published by TMZ.As a result, his record label suspended him, and his songs were temporarily pulled from major streaming platforms including Apple Music and Spotify. He later issued a public apology to address the backlash and take responsibility for his behavior. In a statement shared with TMZ, the ‘Cowgirls’ singer said: “I’m embarrassed and sorry. I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back.”

He followed up with another message soon after, saying: “There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologise for using the word. I promise to do better.”Earlier this year, Wallen stirred up fresh controversy when he abruptly walked off the stage during the closing moments of Saturday Night Live, just as the credits were rolling, leaving the rest of the cast visibly stunned.

The moment, which was caught on camera, showed Wallen storming off immediately after finishing his final performance, heading straight through the audience and out of sight while the cameras were still rolling. His sudden exit left guest host Mikey Madison standing alone on stage, having to wrap up the show and congratulate the cast by herself. The move was widely criticized online, with viewers calling it disrespectful and breaking from the long-standing tradition where performers remain on stage for the show’s final moments.

Back in October 2020, during the height of the Covid pandemic, Wallen also faced criticism after videos surfaced of him partying in violation of social distancing rules that were still in effect at the time.He later apologized for his actions, saying: “My actions this past weekend were pretty shortsighted and they have obviously affected my long-term goals and my dreams.”
