Actor Orlando Bloom has come under criticism after sharing what many people described as an inappropriate image involving his 4-year-old daughter.
Bloom posted a series of photos from a beach outing with his daughter Daisy, whom he and ex Katy Perry welcomed in 2020. Among the pictures, one image showed the young girl without clothes, which quickly sparked backlash online.
Reactions spread fast, with one Reddit user writing, “Some parents are such idiots. They don’t show this child’s face on social media, so they understand privacy, but then they share a naked picture. It doesn’t add up.”
Another commenter added that the post felt careless given Bloom’s large audience, saying: “I can’t help but feel that you must be really out of touch to think it’s acceptable to share a naked photo of your daughter with such a large audience, without considering the consequences. I can see how that might be a special moment for a parent, but it shouldn’t be on the internet for millions to view.”
A third person expressed sympathy for the child and suggested that growing up with famous parents can bring unique difficulties. “Poor thing,” they wrote. “While having everything you want would be wonderful, having a celebrity as a parent seems like a unique kind of challenge for children. A guardian who is so disconnected from reality can be quite frightening.”
Another individual raised concerns about the risks of sharing such content online, even if the intention was harmless: “I’m not suggesting that his post was made with bad intentions or anything, but there are individuals on social media who might exploit it for harmful and inappropriate purposes.”
Not everyone agreed with the criticism, however. Some defended the Pirates of the Caribbean star, describing the photo as innocent and suggesting the backlash was overblown.
One supporter argued, “She’s about to turn four… I really don’t get all the comments here. She’s just going swimming with her dad. Once again, she is four. This isn’t, not a typical situation… he covered her backside in the image.. I used to run around without clothes until I was nearly seen, and many kids I grew up with did the same. It’s innocent, and the fact that people are trying to twist it into something strange IS WEIRD AF.”
Following the criticism, Bloom removed the photo and later reposted it, this time placing a yellow heart emoji over his daughter’s backside.
Bloom and Perry have been deliberate about protecting their daughter’s identity, choosing not to publicly post photos showing her face.
The discussion surfaced amid other recent attention involving the pair, after Bloom previously made a joking remark about being romantically linked to a world leader, while Perry has been seen publicly with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
