Wheel Of Fortune’ Contestant Leaves Viewers In Awe After Solving Puzzle For $89,000

Heather Foster, a once well-known figure in local news, demonstrated that she still has the ability to captivate an audience—this time on Wheel of Fortune. The ex-news anchor, who stepped away from her profession to concentrate on raising her children, walked away with a remarkable cash prize and a dream vacation during the episode of the popular game show that aired on Thursday, February 20.

A native of Wisconsin, Foster took a break from her typical routine of exploring museums and libraries with her kids to vie for a chance at substantial winnings. When she manages to carve out rare moments of peace, she confesses that she enjoys sitting in her car in total silence—something that many parents can undoubtedly relate to. Prior to committing herself fully to her family, Foster served as an anchor for NewsChannel 7 from 2015 to 2021.

Initially, it appeared that luck was not in her favor. Her rivals, Babatunde Oyelowo, a gaming and anime lover raised in Japan, and Eric Dotterer, a marathon runner who travels the globe from New York, took charge in the early stages. Both of them swiftly cracked the first two puzzles, leaving Foster lagging behind.

However, in true Wheel of Fortune style, the situation shifted. During the third puzzle, both Oyelowo and Dotterer faltered—one picked the wrong letters, while the other hit the unfortunate “Lose a Turn” wedge. Taking advantage of the moment, Foster correctly filled in the letters and solved the puzzle, “Life-Changing Experience,” which earned her $3,700.

Momentum was now in her favor. The upcoming puzzle, a “Before & After” challenge, brought her even greater luck. Foster landed on the sought-after $3,500 wedge, along with the $10,000 wedge, while both of her competitors hit “Bankrupt.” She confidently solved the puzzle, “Wedding Ring Toss,” and her total soared to $19,550.

“I adore this place,” Foster exclaimed with a chuckle, a feeling that host Ryan Seacrest readily concurred with.

Dotterer made a comeback in the next round, successfully solving the puzzle and winning a vacation, which brought his total to $19,324. Meanwhile, Oyelowo stayed at $1,000. During the Triple Toss-Up, Dotterer added another $4,000 to his score, while Foster grabbed $2,000, momentarily putting Dotterer in the lead.

However, Foster was not finished yet. In the last regular round, she excelled once more, solving the puzzle and earning an extra $8,500, raising her total to $30,050 and ensuring her place in the Bonus Round. Dotterer concluded with $23,324, while Oyelowo wrapped up with $1,000.

In the Bonus Round, Foster opted for the category “What Are You Doing?” and received the standard letters—R, S, T, L, N, and E. She then chose M, D, G, and O. As the letters were revealed, the board displayed “R_DG_NG T_E G _.”

Before Seacrest had the chance to start the timer, Foster boldly exclaimed, “Bridging the gap.” She was spot on! Her correct response earned her an additional $40,000, raising her total winnings to $89,942, along with an amazing cruise to Iceland.

Filled with joy, Foster embraced Seacrest warmly as he chuckled and said to her, “Congratulations!” It truly was a life-altering moment.
