Some refer to it as being “bikini-ready” or just a “beach body.” As summer draws near, the pressure to conform to this unattainable ideal is everywhere: from fitness advertisements to the newest diet trends. It feels as though you must meet a specific appearance to enjoy the sunny season or go on a holiday — or else face judgment.
A few years back, Elle Anthony, a TikTok creator from the US, gained significant attention when she took to social media to encourage everyone to embrace their beachwear with confidence this summer.
In her video, Elle, who refers to herself as a “cougar,” addressed the ongoing chatter about “summer beach bodies,” telling her audience, “Summer is here, and there’s always talk about getting that beach body ready.”
She highlighted that confidence and mindset are far more important than societal pressures: “Darling, if you’re set to hit the beach and feel no shame about how your body looks in a swimsuit, surf shorts, or swim trunks, then you’re ready for your summer beach body.”
She inspired women to don whatever makes them feel great:
“Put on that bikini, rock that G-string, flaunt those short shorts, whatever you love. This is your summer.” She also pointed out that society is the one that imposes unwarranted judgments, saying, “Keep in mind, it’s just society that places criticisms, labels, and standards on us that we never requested.”
“Love yourself, be yourself, embrace who you are, find happiness, and enjoy your freedom.”
Despite her empowering message, not everyone was on board. Some critics commented, “No thanks. I’ve seen enough,” while others argued, “It all depends on what shape you are.” Additionally, some insisted that confidence doesn’t necessitate revealing clothing: “No human ever needs to wear a ‘G-string’ at the beach. Dress modestly and have fun.”
Regardless of the criticism, Elle continues to proudly display her body in daring outfits and swimwear.
She has faced multiple bans from TikTok for sharing revealing photos that the platform deemed inappropriate. However, she has returned with her account @WisewomanElle, where she continues to advocate for body positivity. Her bio states that she is a curvy, former Christian who has embraced a career in the sex industry.
At 55, she demonstrates that age does not restrict confidence, self-expression, or the ability to inspire women to love their bodies and feel fabulous in their own skin.
