Tragically, the Los Angeles fires destroyed Ricki Lake’s home.
The 56-year-old former talk show host revealed on Instagram that everything has vanished.
“I can’t believe I am typing these words,” she said, noting that one of her friends made “a valiant and brave effort” to rescue the Malibu house.
In August 2019, the Raised by Ricki podcast presenter announced via Facebook that she was “finally” breaking ground on her dream house.
She posted, “My new #malibu home is happening!” at the moment. “I purchased this precious land five and a half years ago, and it is now taking shape. #Patience #Surrender #Gratitude So excited. For reals. ❤️ in Malibu, California.”
On Tuesday, January 7, flames erupted over Southern California, including the Pacific Palisades and Eaton Canyon. As of Wednesday, Jan. 8, the Palisades fire had spread to 11,802 acres, making it the most damaging in Los Angeles County history. The Associated Press reported that the death toll had increased to five.
Several local celebrities, including Lake, lost their homes as a result of the forced relocation.
“I grieve along with all of those suffering during this apocalyptic event,” the former The Masked Singer competitor remarked. “I’m praying for all of my neighbors, friends, my community, the animals, the firemen, and first responders. We will share more details about our escape with Dolly, but not much else.
“For now, I grieve. 💔💔💔,” she ended.
