The remains of Kenneth, Barbara, and their eldest daughter Barbie were never found, leaving the family’s fate an enduring mystery.
Mayo has now claimed he was able to recover the remains of two adults from inside the vehicle, adding a new chapter to the decades-long search for the truth.
The discovery brought renewed attention to the tragic case, with hope that it could finally provide closure to a mystery that has lingered for generations.
“I was disappointed.” Mayo recalled, describing his feelings about the partial recovery.
Reflecting on the heartbreaking but meaningful discovery, Mayo shared: “I feel like I got them out to be restored with their families.” “And that was the dream.”
