We’re all familiar with veterans’ discounts, but what about active police officers? A KFC in Ohio sparked national buzz after offering free meals to officers in uniform — any day, any time. The move, meant as a thank-you to law enforcement, was simple but sparked a heated online debate.

The photo of the sign, shared on the Ohio Going Blue Facebook page, quickly went viral — with over 10,000 likes and 6,000 shares. While many applauded the gesture, others pushed back, questioning if uniformed officers should receive special perks. One officer, also a page admin, weighed in:
“I don’t expect anything for free, but it means something when a business shows appreciation.”

Some argued the recognition should extend to other first responders like EMTs and firefighters — a point the admin fully supported. KFC, meanwhile, stuck to its guns and kept the sign up.

Whether viewed as thoughtful or unfair, the offer stirred a larger conversation about how we show appreciation — and who deserves it.
So, is it gratitude or favoritism? Would you support similar perks — or does fairness come first?
