Cameron Diaz, 53, and her husband Benji Madden, 47, have welcomed their third child, and they’re excited to share the unique name they’ve chosen.
Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden became parents in 2019 with the arrival of their daughter, Raddix. Five years later, their son Cardinal joined the family — and now the couple has announced the birth of their third child in a surprise social media post.
After becoming a mother at 47, Diaz took a step back from her career and later discussed her choice in an interview with Hello Magazine.
“It felt like the right thing for me to reclaim my own life, and I just really didn’t care about anything else. Nobody’s opinion, nobody’s success, no one’s offer, no one’s anything could change my mind about my decision of taking care of myself and building the life that I really wanted to have. I think it really comes to what are you passionate about? For me, it was to build my family,” she shared, as reported by Parenting Patch.
Cameron Diaz – children, husband, family
Diaz has been candid about becoming a mother later in life. During her appearance on Naomi Campbell’s YouTube series No Filter, she reflected on how her journey contrasts with many others.
“A lot of people do it the other way around… they get married [and] have a family in their youth,” she noted, according to Motherly. “I’m kind of doing it in the second half of my life.”
She continued: “The only pressure for me now is I have to live to be, like, 107, you know? No pressure!”
“Having a family when you’re young…it’s like anything when you’re young: You do it. But when you’re my age and you decide to do it, it’s a real choice. You really have to work hard for it.”
“We cherish our life together as a family”
Now, at 53, Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden have shared the wonderful news that their family has expanded once more – and they’ve also disclosed the special name they’ve selected.
“Cameron and I are thrilled, excited, and feeling incredibly BLESSED to share the arrival of our third child, Nautas Madden. Welcome to the world, son!!” Benji announced in an Instagram post.
“We cherish our life together as a family – our children are healthy and happy, and we feel so thankful!!! We’re having a great time.”
The name is thought to have Latin roots and is often interpreted to signify “sailor, navigator, voyager – one who sets out on a journey and is unafraid of the unknown,” as mentioned in the Instagram post.
