💔 Honeymoon Horror in Shillong: A Tale of Love, Deception, and Murder
What should have been the joyful beginning of a marriage ended in tragedy in the hills of Shillong, India.
On May 20, businessman Raja Raghuvanshi arrived in the scenic city with his new wife, Sonam, for their honeymoon. Just days later, his body was discovered in a remote canyon — decomposing, stripped of his wedding ring, identification, and life.
At first, suspicion fell on Raj Kushwaha, believed to be Sonam’s lover. But investigators soon uncovered a darker truth: Sonam herself had orchestrated her husband’s death.
Police allege she manipulated Raj with false promises of love and then recruited three accomplices — Vishal Singh, Anand Kurmi, and Akash Rajput — luring them with financial incentives. Together, they plotted the killing with chilling precision.
Phone records and location tracking revealed how Sonam closely monitored Raja’s movements. Guided by her instructions, the men allegedly ambushed him between May 23–24 before pushing him into the gorge.
Raj believed he was acting out of passion, convinced that once Raja was gone, he and Sonam would be free to build a life together. But investigators say Sonam had yet another lover — and chillingly, she even planned to eliminate Raj once he had served his purpose.
Her arrest on June 8 exposed the elaborate web of deceit. Confronted with overwhelming evidence, Sonam reportedly confessed, leaving a trail of shock and disbelief across India.
What began as a honeymoon ended as a nightmare — a sacred vow shattered by greed and betrayal. The case stands as a haunting reminder of how love can be twisted into obsession, and trust into tragedy.
