Preacher denies he’s Elvis Presley, but fans hear his voice and insist he is the King

Since the tragic passing of Elvis Presley in 1977, devoted fans have been convinced that the king of rock and roll faked his death to escape the limelight.

Some have speculated that he was evading the mafia, made a cameo in the 1990 hit film Home Alone, visited California’s Legoland, maintained the grounds of Graceland, and is now living incognito as a modest preacher in Arkansas.

Even though the lookalike has consistently denied these claims, fans are adamant that Bob Joyce is “about to reveal” the truth behind his staged death “very soon.”

On August 16, 1977, the world was ‘All Shook Up’ when it was revealed that 42-year-old Elvis Aaron Presley had passed away from cardiac arrest.

Nearly 50 years after his death, a faction of skeptics remains unwilling to believe that the king of rock and roll is truly gone.

Even today, fans who are obsessed with Elvis refuse to move on and firmly believe that the gyrating gentleman staged his own death to disappear from the public eye.

Now, they are convinced they have seen the “Jailhouse Rock” artist living under the name Bob Joyce, a 72-year-old preacher in Benton, Arkansas.

‘None other than Elvis’

Joyce resembles an older, silver-haired version of Elvis, talks like him, and sings with the same comforting baritone that made Elvis so beloved.

When a YouTube video surfaced of Joyce performing the gospel song “How Great Thou Art,” which Elvis recorded in 1967, conspiracy theorists went into a frenzy.

“This is undeniably Elvis. No one else can perform this beloved hymn of mine quite like Elvis,” comments one fan in the section below.

Another fan adds, “His voice will remain unchanged. We adore you and hope you share your life story with us one day. I know who he is, and so does everyone else.”

“Not even the impersonator Elvis sings like Bob Joyce. Sir, I truly believe you are him. That rhythm and tone of voice can only belong to Elvis,” expresses a third supporter.

Someone else writes, “I love you, Elvis Bob Joyce. I know, but it’s okay, no more bright lights; you have your peace of mind now. You still hold my heart (SIC).”

‘I’m not Elvis’

Refuting these claims, the gospel singer and preacher at The Household of Faith Church asserts he is not the king of rock and roll but rather a messenger of God.

“No, I’m not Elvis. Many people ask me that… I started out trying to tell everyone, ‘No, I’m not Elvis,’” explains the man who notes he is nearly 20 years younger than the “Don’t be Cruel” artist, who would turn 89 in 2024. “Most of these people know I am not Elvis, but to them, it doesn’t matter. They are just thankful that God is blessing them and reflecting on their lives.”

Maybe God is using Elvis’ voice to reach out to those with broken hearts and lives… If Elvis were still with us, I would tell him, my friend and brother, we share a deep connection.

Nevertheless, numerous fans of Joyce firmly believe that he has yet to reveal himself and will soon disclose his significant secret to everyone.

“All his [congregation members] are aware it’s him, just like the many visitors to his church every Sunday from all over the globe know it’s him. He’s preparing to clarify everything (including why he faked his death and changed his name) very shortly,” writes Samantha Drummond Dunn from Alabama, who intends to travel to Arkansas to meet Joyce. She encourages others to check out his YouTube videos, which she claims serve as evidence, insisting, “It is him!”

In a lighthearted manner, another internet user comments, “If it’s on the Internet, it must be true.”

In response to the numerous fake accounts on social media – including the one imitated by Drummond Dunn in her post – a notice on the Bob Joyce website cautions online users to be skeptical of what they encounter on the Internet. “People have impersonated Bob Joyce on several occasions. He does not send private messages from any online account. The sole Facebook account for Pastor Bob Joyce is: facebook.com/bob.joyce.75/ Any other Bob Joyce accounts on Facebook or elsewhere online are not legitimate.”

Additionally, the message states that he is not present on Instagram or TikTok.
