Cult actor Donald Gibb, famous for ‘Revenge of the Nerds’ dies at 71

Cult actor Donald Gibb, renowned for his iconic role as “Ogre” in the beloved 1980s film Revenge of the Nerds, has sadly passed away at the age of 71.

As reported by TMZ, who interviewed his son, Travis, Gibb died on Tuesday evening due to ongoing health issues at his residence in Texas. His son mentioned that Donald was surrounded by family during his final moments.

Additionally, his son shared that Donald had a deep love for the Lord, his family, friends, and fans. The family has requested prayers and privacy as they navigate this challenging time, expressing that their father will be greatly missed and cherished in memory.

Born in August 1954 in New York City, Donald Gibb initially pursued a career in sports, playing college football and briefly joining the San Diego Chargers. However, an injury prompted him to shift his focus and embark on an acting career.

He gained recognition with his role in the 1980 action comedy Any Which Way You Can, directed by Clint Eastwood. A few years later, Donald Gibb became a star in the cult classic Revenge of the Nerds, portraying the unforgettable character “Ogre.”

Additional credits feature television roles in popular series like The X-Files, Cheers, and The A-Team. Donald Gibb also appeared in numerous films, such as Hancock, 8 of Diamonds, The Biggest Fan, The Lightning Bug, and Grind.

His latest performance was a supporting character in Justin Kuhn’s boxing thriller, Hands.
