Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny was the performer tapped to sing at the Super Bowl’s highly anticpated halftime show. The singer famously wore an outfit from the budget-friendly brand Zara and it seems the outfit hid a lot of meaning some people might have missed.

The Spanish clothing brand however said in a statement, appreciating the singer,”It was an amazing show. Benito put on a memorable performance. What a great outfit.”

Storm Pablo and Marvin Douglas Linares styled the ‘CYBERTRUCK’ singer who chose to wear a fully cream ensemble with a jersey-style top on Sunday. The outfit bore the name ‘Ocasio’ which is Bad Bunny’s surname and also featured a big ’64’ on it.

Many people questioned what this signified and some speculated that perhaps it was the year his mother was born. However, it was later revealed that it was the year his late uncle was born.

The singer made a statement to the Rolling Stone which said, “1964 is the year my uncle Cutito, my mom’s brother, was born. What little I know about the NFL is thanks to him.”

“He left for the United States to work when he was 17 and never returned to live in Puerto Rico, although he always visited us in late January or early February and stayed at our house. That was right in the middle of the NFL postseason, so I always watched the games with him. He was a huge San Francisco 49ers fan, the team whose home stadium is the one where Super Bowl 60 was held, the one I performed at.”

The singer said he had always dreamt of taking his uncle to the Super Bowl but never got the chance because of his sudden demise two years ago. His death was ‘unexpectedly without warning.’

Bad Bunny noted, “So, for my Super Bowl halftime show, I decided to have him on my shirt: OCASIO, his last name, the same as my mom’s, and his birth year, 1964.

“I dedicated my show to him before it started. I’m sure he appreciated it. He saw it, he was there, and he was proud of his nephew. Now all that’s left is for the 49ers to win another Super Bowl,” the statement said.

People have since reacted online to the moving reason behind his Super Bowl ensemble.
