The FBI is reportedly investigating the possibility there may have been a second shooter involved in the killing of Charlie Kirk.
The Turning Point USA founder and Conservative activist was assassinated on September 10 while speaking to a crowd at Utah Valley University.
Kirk, 31, was killed by a single shot that hit him in the neck, causing him to slump over and lose consciousness instantly.
Following a 33-hour manhunt, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson was arrested for the killing, but new reports suggest the FBI is looking into whether he was acting alone.
According to RadarOnline, FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed extensive efforts have been initiated to explore whether additional shooters may have been involved, spurred on by new footage and forensic evidence.
According to reports, footage taken from a homeowner’s doorbell camera allegedly shows a man believed to be Robinson communicating using a cellphone shortly after the shooting, raising questions about whether the attack was coordinated.
Conservative commentator Candace Owens also claimed she was shown footage of a sniper clad in tactical gear preparing to shoot, describing them as resembling a “foreign agent” and carrying a smaller firearm than the one Robinson is believed to have used.
Investigators are also reportedly looking into Robinson’s communications on the Discord platform after the assassination, and are said to be pursuing “dozens” of people connected to him online.
Text messages recovered from Robinson’s phone allegedly included a confession to his partner Lance Twiggs that he’d had “enough of [Kirk’s] hatred”.
Twiggs had been cooperating with the investigation but had reportedly disappeared shortly afterward.
After his arrest, Robinson was charged with aggravated murder and prosecutors are seeking the death penalty in relation to Kirk’s assassination.
Kirk’s assassination was captured on camera by onlookers at the event, which quickly circulated on social media.
Conspiracy theories also abounded regarding the movements of Kirk’s security personnel, who were seen touching their hat in the moments before the shot rang out.
However, Brian Harpole, who was leading the security team on the day, has categorically shut down that rumor, explaining on Shawn Ryan Show podcast on Monday (November 17): “If we needed to relay a message, then we’d [say it] on comms… if we notice something, we’re not gonna use a hand signal.”
He explained that if hand signals were ever to be used in the course of duty, they would never be “normal” movements that could be easily confused or overlooked.
Harpole confirmed: “[We’d use signals that] can’t be confused with a man scratching his a**.”
He added that if a member of the team was to try and make a hand signal to another, they would instantly look to Harpole to instruct them on what to do next, which did not happen on the day.
“It’s not good communication,” he said, but admitted even he was confused to see the conspiracy theories circulating after one member of the team “adjusted his hat”.
He explained: “It’s like, OK, substantiate. So he touched his hat. There were a line of people in the front and other people that did all kinda things, everybody’s subject to that.
“I get it, I’m not a conspiracy theory guy, but I do believe that there are things out here bigger than you and I that are in operation.”
