The topic gets a lot of attention because many men say they would like to be bigger. In one study, that number was reported as 45 percent.
The research behind that figure involved 25,000 men, who were asked about how they felt about their penis size. Nearly half said they wanted to be more endowed, Psychology Today reports.
But surgery and filler are not the only options people talk about. There are also non-surgical methods that cost less, and Dr. Rena Malik has explained one of the best-known examples: a traction device.
These devices are said to be widely sold online, though many people may not be rushing to admit they have searched for one. They claim to add up to 2cm in length over three to six months, with users wearing the device for 30 minutes twice a day.
Dr. Malik recently appeared on The Diary Of a CEO podcast, where she showed host Steven Bartlett how the device is used and explained why consistency matters.
“It’s a commitment to increasing length and to doing this process,” she said while discussing the rather intimidating-looking device.
“If you have a curvature in the penis, like if you have something called Peyronie’s disease, this device can actually curve a little bit away from you […] and straighten out the penis,” Dr. Malik said.
“For some people, [getting the condition] can be really traumatic and devastating to have a change in the way that your penis appears because it starts curving all of a sudden, and this is safe and effective.”
When she was asked whether the results last forever, Dr. Malik said experts do not know for sure if stopping the routine would cause the penis to return to its earlier size.
“Most of the studies stop once they get their results,” the expert added, explaining that many studies end once researchers have collected the results they were looking for.
Dr. Richard Viney previously explained: “Men’s penises shorten as they get older (due to) increasing body fat and increasing prostate size drawing the penis back into the body.”
“It is theoretically possible new drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy, which are used to treat diabetes and obesity respectively and can cause people to lose weight, could also be a factor. As men lose weight, their penises appear larger.”
