Sydney Sweeney Goes Topless In Wild Euphoria Scene With Richard Gere’s Son

Euphoria has once again left viewers stunned, this time after Sydney Sweeney appeared in a wild scene with the son of a major Hollywood star.

Season three has already been one of the show’s most divisive runs, with Cassie, played by Sweeney, being pulled deeper into an OnlyFans-style storyline. Earlier episodes included her wrestling a large python for subscribers while wearing only a beige thong, a scene that led to plenty of viewer backlash and criticism of how Euphoria portrays adult creator culture.

On Sunday, May 24, the penultimate episode of season three continued Cassie’s storyline, this time pairing her with guest star Homer Gere, who plays influencer Dylan Reid in the HBO show.

In the episode, Sweeney’s character strips naked for an intense sex scene with Dylan after the two spend the night together.

The hookup quickly turns into part of Cassie’s online plan. While Dylan is passed out drunk, she steals his phone and uses his Instagram account to post about what happened, hoping the attention will help her gain more followers.

The scene is filmed from both characters’ points of view, with Cassie shown completely naked and straddling Dylan in bed. Things get so heated that the bed breaks, and a painting comes flying off the wall.

Such sex scenes are certainly not uncommon in Euphoria season threeHBO

Why the scene caught viewers off guard

Part of the reaction came from how suddenly the episode pushed Cassie’s storyline into even more explicit territory. The show has never been shy about uncomfortable or graphic moments, but many fans still seemed surprised by how far this scene went.

It also landed differently because Cassie’s plot is not only about sex or shock value. Her storyline has been tied to attention, control, online validation, and the messy way she tries to turn private moments into public content.

That is why the Dylan scene sparked so much conversation. For some viewers, it felt like another example of the show going too far, while others saw it as the next disturbing step in Cassie’s season three arc.

It is safe to say a lot of viewers did not see the moment coming, and social media reacted fast after the episode aired.

One X user wrote: “That loud a** Cassie sex scene jumpscare… free me.”

Another added: “I did NOT expect cassie to actually have sex with dylan.” Someone else said: “Cassie and dylan scene was already unnecessary but a sex scene bru cmon.”

Homer Gere, 26, is the eldest son of Pretty Woman star Richard Gere and his second wife, Carey Lowell. Richard and Lowell split in 2013 after 11 years together.

Richard later married Alejandra Silva in 2018, and the couple have since welcomed two sons together, Alexander, seven, and James, six.

Alongside his role in Euphoria, Homer is also set to appear in Ryan Murphy’s The Shard TV series, which is expected to be released later this year.

Homer Gere’s role adds another layer to the reaction

Homer’s appearance also drew attention because many viewers know his father far better than they know him. Being introduced to a wider audience through a scene this intense is not exactly a quiet TV debut.

His character, Dylan Reid, fits neatly into Cassie’s online world because he is presented as an influencer. That makes him more than just a random hookup in the episode, since Cassie sees his public profile as something she can use.

The moment also keeps the season focused on fame, image, and performance. Cassie is not only trying to be desired; she is trying to turn desire into attention, followers, and control over her public story.

Elsewhere in Euphoria season three, the episode also brought a major goodbye for a character who had been part of the series since the beginning.

That twist gave fans another reason to talk about the episode beyond Cassie and Dylan’s scene. Between the shocking hookup, the online fallout, and the death of a main character, the penultimate chapter clearly aimed to set up a tense finale.

It also shows why season three has become such a talking point. The series keeps mixing explicit scenes with darker character turns, which is part of why viewers keep debating whether the show is bold, excessive, or both.

Euphoria creator Sam Levinson said Nate had become something of a villain, and he felt the character’s gruesome ending made sense for the story.

Levinson said: “There’s this kind of funny thing where I know what the audience wants in terms of justice or karma and with that in mind, I always think, ‘Well, how can I give it to them?’ How can I give them what they want, but make it so horrific and anxiety-inducing that by the time it happens, the audience isn’t so sure they wanted it?”

Jacob Elordi, meanwhile, reflected on saying goodbye to the show, adding: “It’s a bittersweet thing, this show is a massive part of not just my career but my life, it’s been amazing and I’m so proud being a part of this.”
