ST.Man Who Stole $102K From CT Medicaid With Fake Autism Treatments In Glastonbury Sentenced

A former East Hartford man who owned a Glastonbury-based autism services company has been sentenced after authorities said he fraudulently collected more than $102,000 from Connecticut’s Medicaid program.

Glenroy Patterson, 49, of Jersey City, New Jersey, was given a three-year suspended sentence and five years of probation last week, according to Chief State’s Attorney Patrick J. Griffin. The judge also ordered the former East Hartford man to pay $102,084.17 in restitution and never to serve as a Medicaid provider again.

Patterson pleaded guilty in March to health insurance fraud.

The case centered on Patterson’s role as a board-certified behavior analyst and owner of Trading Spaces ABA LLC, an autism-specialty group based in Glastonbury.

Investigators with the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit found that between March 2020 and December 2021, Patterson billed Medicaid for applied behavioral analysis services that were not provided, prosecutors said.

According to investigators, evidence showed Trading Spaces ABA LLC was not meeting with clients as reported. Despite that, Patterson submitted claims to the Connecticut Department of Social Services for payment.

The investigation found Patterson fraudulently billed and received $102,084.17 in Medicaid funds.

Medicaid provides health coverage to low-income, elderly, and disabled residents. The program is funded by both state and federal taxpayers and is administered in Connecticut by the Department of Social Services.
