ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – An Onslow County woman is in jail after warrants say she left her autistic child home alone.
27-year-old Amaria Moore was arrested by Onslow County deputies yesterday.
Warrants say Moore left her 5-year-old, who is autistic and non-verbal, alone inside their home.
She was charged with misdemeanor child abuse and exposing children to fire.
Court records say Moore was also arrested on Friday for simple assault. She posted a $1,000 bond following that arrest.
Moore is accused of swinging her arm through a drive-through window and hitting another woman, according to the arrest warrant.
Moore was brought back to jail yesterday on the child abuse charge and is being held without bond.
The county’s social services department was notified. Moore cannot see the child without DSS approval, per a judge’s order.
