Former Hueco Elementary principal indicted for injuring 5-year-old student with autism

A former elementary school principal is facing charges after being indicted last month in a case involving the injury of a 5-year-old student with autism, according to court records obtained by KFOX14/CBS4 on Monday.

Greg Hatch, former principal of Hueco Elementary School from the Socorro Independent School District, was arrested on September 30, 2025, by the Socorro ISD police department and charged with causing injury to child/ disabled individual.

According to court documents, Hatch was formally indicted on May 27, with the court stating that Hatch “did then and there intentionally or knowingly cause bodily injury” to “a disabled individual or a child 14 years of age or younger.”

The indictment comes after a security video shows Hatch forcefully pulling the student from underneath the cafeteria table as the victim was having an emotional episode, court documents stated.

According to an arrest affidavit previously obtained by KFOX14/CBS4, a 5-year-old autistic child was injured by Hatch at the school’s cafeteria on September 3.

The video shows Hatch grabbing the student by the legs and forcefully pulling the student from under the table, causing the child’s arms to come into contact with the table legs, the document stated.

It also stated that Hatch picked up the student from the armpits and forcefully sat the child down on the seat.

The document stated the victim sustained injuries to the arms and legs.

Hatch was the principal at Hueco Elementary School at the time of the incident.

At the time of Hatch’s arrest, SISD officials told KFOX14/CBS4, “As this is a personnel matter, the district is unable to comment further or provide a statement at this time.

Hatch’s case is expected to continue in court.
