(NewsNation) — Aryanna has autism, and for years her mother, Naz, has struggled to find a space for her daughter to nurture her passion for music.
Naz said someone recommended a new program to her, known as the Penguin Project, which provides children with disabilities the opportunity to participate in the performing arts.
Aryanna has since “made a lot of new friends, and not just from her peers in the program, but the neurotypical peers who are mentoring,” Naz explained.
“My American Story: Celebrating 250 Years” honors the people, traditions and values that define our nation.
