‘Storage Wars’ star dies at 67

Storage Wars icon Darrell “The Gambler” Sheets has sadly passed away at the age of 67.

Authorities in Lake Havasu City reported that officers discovered Sheets deceased at his residence on April 22, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Appeared in 163 episodes

Darrell Sheets was beloved by fans of Storage Wars for many years; he was a wonderful person with a fantastic sense of humor. Over the years, he captivated audiences with his knack for transforming small investments into substantial profits.

It was no wonder he was dubbed “The Gambler,” due to his bold strategy on the show and his tendency to take significant risks at auctions.

He featured in 163 episodes of the hit series, which first aired in 2010. In the later seasons, his appearances became less common after he disclosed that he had experienced a heart attack in 2019.

“Well, here we are. I wasn’t planning to share this, but you all have been the most amazing friends and supporters. I’ve been quite ill for the past three months, and just two nights ago, I experienced a mild heart attack. I discovered that I have congestive heart failure and a serious lung issue,” he wrote at that time.

After stepping back from the storage auction business, the reality star moved to Arizona, where he started his own antiques shop.

The case remains open

Tragically, it was in Arizona that he was found deceased on April 22.

“On April 22, 2026, at around 2:00 AM, officers from the Lake Havasu City Police Department were called to a home on the 1500 block of Chandler Drive regarding a reported deceased person,” the police report indicates.

Authorities stated that Sheets seemed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

“When they arrived, officers found a male who had what looked like a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Criminal Investigations Unit of the Lake Havasu City Police Department was informed and came to take over the investigation,” officials reported.

The case is still open as inquiries are ongoing.

The remains were eventually handed over to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s office for further examination. The deceased male has been identified as Darrell Sheets, a 67-year-old from Lake Havasu City, and his family has been informed. This case is still under active investigation, and more details will be shared as they become available.

Darrell Sheets was a father of two — his daughter Tiffany Shane Sheets and son Brandon Sheets, who followed in his father’s footsteps and also appeared on Storage Wars. His biography mentions that he intended to pass on both the “adventure and education” of the storage auction business to his son.

In a statement, the network A&E expressed: “We are heartbroken by the loss of a cherished member of our Storage Wars family, Darrell ‘The Gambler’ Sheets. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this challenging time.”

It’s truly heartbreaking to hear this! Rest in peace, Darrell!
