Just when it appeared that the dust had settled regarding Hugh Jackman’s separation from Deborra-Lee Furness, fresh reports suggest that things have become tense once more — this time with Sutton Foster involved.

As per insiders, Hugh Jackman’s former wife Deborra-Lee is now said to be prepared to meet his new girlfriend following their much-discussed appearance together at the 2026 Met Gala.
For many years, Hugh and Deborra were seen as one of the Met Gala’s iconic celebrity pairs, frequently attending fashion’s grandest night together.
However, earlier this month, fans witnessed that tradition come to an end when the actor showed up at the event with Sutton Foster instead.
According to New Idea, Deborra had reportedly steered clear of being in the same space as Sutton since their separation. Nevertheless, sources now indicate that she’s finally ready to face the situation head-on.
“This isn’t about Deb being upset or wanting to confront Sutton aggressively,” an insider shared with the outlet. “It’s about finding closure.”
The source mentioned that Deborra now believes that meeting Sutton could help alleviate the “awkwardness” and ultimately allow her to “express her truth.”
Insiders also pointed out that the Met Gala held significant importance for Deborra and Hugh during their marriage.
The former couple last graced the event together in 2023, smiling for the cameras on the red carpet before announcing their separation later that same year.

As per the source, witnessing Sutton attend the event alongside Hugh this year — particularly while sporting a large ring that sparked engagement speculation online — was profoundly distressing for Deborra.
“Deb had been informed that Hugh would be there with Sutton, but it still felt like a dagger to the heart to see them together,” the insider revealed.
“This was supposed to be her and Hugh’s ‘big night out’ for the year, and they were side-by-side, just like Sutton is today, just four years ago,” the source added.
Reports also suggest that Deborra had wished Hugh would attend the event alone again, as he reportedly did in 2024.
“It adds an extra layer of pain that Hugh is so eager to replace their historic nights out with new experiences,” the insider claimed. “Deb is managing to move on from what was a deeply hurtful betrayal, but seeing Sutton smiling next to Hugh is painful,” they continued.
Another aspect that reportedly troubled Deborra was observing Hugh and Sutton openly enjoying their time together in New York City — a location sources noted as being intimately connected to her and Hugh’s shared life.
According to the insider, it seemed like the couple was “openly showcasing their romance and mingling with all the same people they used to socialize with as a pair,” which they asserted was “incredibly painful and humiliating” for Deborra.

“It might be simpler to accept if Hugh and Sutton weren’t always so close to each other,” the source went on to say.
In the meantime, other reports have suggested that the actor himself is feeling frustrated over what he perceives as increasing tension in Hollywood following the breakup.
Earlier this month, insiders claimed that celebrities like Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, and Russell Crowe had been “avoiding him for Deb.”
The speculation intensified after online chatter indicated that Nicole Kidman seemed to steer clear of Hugh during the 2026 Met Gala. “Hugh is growing more and more upset over the sense that an increasing number of people in Hollywood are quietly turning against him,” a source reportedly shared with Globe magazine.
“He holds Deb completely responsible and believes there’s been a continuous stream of negativity coming from her and her team,” the insider asserted. Hugh and Deborra first crossed paths in 1995 while working on the Australian TV series Corelli.
At that time, Hugh had just graduated from drama school, while Deborra was already a well-known actress in Australia. The couple tied the knot less than a year later and enjoyed nearly thirty years together, becoming one of Hollywood’s most recognized long-lasting couples.
Throughout their 27-year marriage, they also welcomed two children, son Oscar and daughter Ava. The couple officially declared their separation in 2023.
Sutton Foster was once married to screenwriter Ted Griffin. It has been reported that she and Hugh developed a close relationship while performing together in the Broadway show The Music Man. Sutton subsequently filed for divorce from Griffin in October 2024.
