Tom Cruise Photo Goes Viral After People Online Notice Glaring Detail

A recent image featuring the legendary actor Tom Cruise and Australian entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins is making waves online — and not solely due to the blockbuster they were promoting.

The photo, taken during a press event in London for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, captures 70-year-old Wilkins standing next to 62-year-old Cruise after their interview. At first glance, it seems like a typical celebrity photo-op — but fans quickly noticed one striking detail: the noticeable height difference.

“Always great catching up with the incredible @tomcruise,” Wilkins wrote on Instagram, praising the upcoming film as “bigger, faster, higher, deeper.” He commended Cruise’s energy and dedication, stating that the Hollywood star “keeps raising the bar… and then jumping over it.”

However, online observers were less interested in the positive review — and more intrigued by the proportions in the image.

Wilkins, who stands at an impressive 6 feet 2 inches (1.88 meters), seemed to overshadow Cruise, who is reported to be 5 feet 6 inches (1.7 meters). Although the angle of the photo places Wilkins slightly closer to the camera, creating the illusion of a larger height difference, fans were quick to share some harsh commentary.

“Tom looks like he just popped out of a Kinder Surprise egg,” one user humorously remarked. Another added, “I know he’s not the tallest, but this photo seems off — like it’s been warped or something.” A third user chimed in, “There’s no way Cruise likes that photo circulating.”

Setting the height difference aside, the discussion turned to Cruise’s legendary stunt work — a hallmark of the Mission: Impossible series. When Wilkins inquired about his very first stunt, Cruise bypassed his well-known Risky Business sock slide and reached back even further.

“I think it started when I was about three,” Cruise said with a smile. “I used to climb out of windows and onto the roof at night just to gaze at the stars. It’s always been a part of me.”

When asked if he ever feels fear while performing such daring stunts, Cruise was both thoughtful and assured. “It’s not that I don’t experience fear,” he explained. “I simply don’t allow it to hold me back. I actually welcome being scared — it motivates me.”

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is already creating a significant buzz, thanks to its impressive $400 million budget and thrilling action sequences. Initial feedback from critics indicates that Cruise may have produced one of the finest installments in the franchise so far.

“An absolute adrenaline rush,” praised Anthony Gagliardi. “Cruise once again demonstrates that he reigns supreme in cinematic spectacle.”

Fandango’s Erik Davis concurred, labeling it “the most exhilarating and impactful Mission film to date,” while critic Dave Baldwin described the movie as “pulse-pounding, gasp-inducing, and incredibly entertaining.”

With rave reviews and viral highlights, Cruise is once again showcasing to audiences why he remains one of Hollywood’s most bankable — and captivating — stars.
