Comedian and influencer Laura Clery has shared a harrowing experience about a life-threatening accident that almost took her life when a 600-pound refrigerator fell on her while she was home alone with her two kids.

She described it as the “most terrifying night” she has ever faced, explaining how she became trapped beneath the enormous stainless steel appliance and feared she might lose consciousness before help could arrive.

Clery mentioned that the incident occurred while she was preparing for bed at home last week.

In an Instagram post dated May 21, the comedian disclosed that she had been pinned against a counter after the fridge unexpectedly toppled over.

“I was home alone getting ready for bed when my 600-pound fridge crashed into me and pinned me against the counter,” Clery wrote, as reported by LadBible. “I couldn’t move. I couldn’t breathe properly. It was impossible to get free, and I could feel myself slipping into unconsciousness.”

She added: “My kids were in the house. I honestly didn’t know if I would make it out alive.

“Thank goodness my phone was in my pocket, and I managed to call 911.

“Thank goodness it didn’t fall on my kids. It took three firefighters to lift it off me. I’m still trembling.”

“This is the most ridiculous way anyone has ever met their end.”

Later, she provided further insights about the event on Patreon, revealing that just before the mishap, she had spotted her son Alfie climbing near the fridge mounted on the wall. Upon noticing it had shifted slightly, she attempted to push it back into position herself.

“I thought I could just give it a little nudge and carry on with my day, like a woman who has her life together,” Clery recounted. “The moment I pushed it, it toppled over onto me.”

While pinned under the appliance, one thought kept echoing in her mind.

“This is the most ridiculous way anyone has ever met their end.”

Clery also likened the pain to that of labor, mentioning in the comments of her post that it felt like “when she was fully dilated and experiencing contractions.”

“I remember being trapped under this enormous 600-pound stainless steel fridge, thinking, ‘If I don’t breathe, I’m going to pass out,’” she shared. “If that happens, my kids are left alone in the house with no one coming; I was supposed to take them to school in the morning. Honestly…this could have been SO much worse.”

No broken bones

Despite the terrifying incident, Clery reported that she came away without any broken bones. Firefighters transported her to the hospital, and she is now recuperating at home, although she confessed to still feeling “fragile.”

She also reflected on how emotional the experience was for her children, noting that her daughter Penelope was in tears while her son Alfie “ran outside, likely terrified beyond belief.”
